The Handbook of Virginia Local Government Law has been the principal reference source on Virginia local government law since it was first published in 1982 (and known then as the Handbook for Local Government Attorneys).
Written by practitioners of acknowledged expertise, The Handbook of Virginia Local Government Law remains the only comprehensive reference work for an in-depth look at this specialized field. Whether you have a legal practice grounded in local government law or need to get up-to-speed on a particular topic, The Handbook will give you the theoretical underpinnings and practical advice you need.
The new 2016 edition is fully integrated and up-to-date. All chapters have been revised, not only to add new materials but also to delete outdated cases, statutes, and verbiage. The 2016 version includes federal and state legislation, case decisions, Virginia Attorney General Opinions, and Conflict of Interest Opinions through December 31, 2015.
The Handbook of Virginia Local Government Law is published annually only in electronic format. It is available as a CD, as a download, and is searcheable online. Each handbook chapter comprises a separate PDF file, readable with Adobe Acrobat Reader. The Handbook is searchable by keyword, both in its entirety and by individual chapter. The text includes hyperlinks to cross-referenced material in the same chapter and in other chapters of the Handbook, and to cited websites.
