The Demographics & Workforce Group produces population estimates, including the official estimates of total population for localities, that are used throughout the Commonwealth for decisionmaking and fund allocation. The population estimates are produced annually for each non-census year. The July 1, 2012 estimates are now available.

Population Projections
The Cooper Center, under contract with the Virginia Employment Commission, has released its population projections for 2020, 2030 and 2040 for Virginia, its 134 localities and 22 Planning District Commissions, and total population projections for large towns. School Enrollment Projections
We currently produce school enrollment projections on a contract basis for school divisions and individual schools. Projections using the standard grade progression ratio method are $200 and will be delivered 10 business days from the date of request.
